The Future of Venezuela

Hosted by Liberal House

Venezuela stands at a historic crossroads. After years of authoritarian rule, profound economic collapse, and systematic repression under the outgoing regime of Nicolás Maduro, the country now faces a pivotal moment in its political evolution. The recent detention of Maduro has opened the door to a transition process unprecedented in recent Venezuelan history, one that could finally restore democratic governance, uphold individual rights, and set the nation on a path towards liberalism and prosperity.

Liberal ideas grounded in respect for human rights, the rule of law, open markets, and individual freedom, have emerged as a compelling framework for this transformation. Across civil society, the diaspora, and political movements, voices advocating for liberal democracy are shaping a hopeful vision for Venezuela’s future where personal liberty and economic opportunity enable citizens to thrive. At the forefront of this liberal movement stands María Corina Machado, a leading figure of the Venezuelan opposition and the head of the political movement Vente Venezuela, which is part of the broader liberal family.

Join us this Wednesday 28th of January at 18:00 in the Liberal House in Brussels for a discussion about the bright liberal future of Venezuela. This event will bring together Venezuelan and liberal voices to explore what Venezuela’s transition to democracy might look like in practice: how liberal values can guide constitutional reforms, protect fundamental rights, and establish a thriving economy that benefits all sectors of society. We will examine the prospects for the economy and the EU relations.
